What is Pete's AD&D game?

Pete's game is an AD&D first edition game that's been running continuously since 1979.

What is this site?

Over the years, Pete developed several programs to assist in running the game. They were written in various languages, and wrote out files directly to his PC. In 2020, with COVID-19 forcing the game primarily into Zoom sessions, the idea was hatched to move these programs online.

That's where this site sprung from. Danny had a web host, and was interested in growing his PHP skills, so the two of them launched into the conversion of Pete's programs into the online space.

The look of the site is intentional. The game is first edition, and the site tries to mimic that first-generation look of web sites we all grew up with.

What's reflected?

Most of what's reflected in these tools reflects the most commonly-used first edition books, printed by TSR Hobbies, and now owned by Wizard of the Coast. These include:

  • Player's Handbook (1978)
  • Monster Manual (1978)
  • Dungeon Master's Guide (1979)
  • Deities & Demigods (1980)
  • Fiend Folio (1981)
  • Monster Manual II (1982)
  • Unearthed Arcana (1985)

And, of course, it wouldn't be Pete's game if it didn't have changes that reflect his input, so many of the tables, items and monsters have been adjusted or added to by him.
